Two runs of the same distance can be hours apart depending on the climb. This looks up every recorded finish at races of a similar distance and steepness, and reports what they took.

Add a recent result of your own and it does something more useful. It finds where your time placed you in the field for the race you ran, then reads off the time that same placing would give you at the race you're looking at. So a mid-pack runner gets a mid-pack estimate rather than the average of everyone.

It assumes you hold roughly your usual place in the field. That's a fair starting point, not a law, which is why the answer comes as a range.
