Adrian MacDonald won the men’s race in 15:47:23, his third Leadville title after back-to-back wins in 2021 and 2022. Matthew Zupan finished second in 16:15:25. Mckendree Hickory won the women’s race in 19:39:12, 49 minutes 25 seconds clear of Jacquie Mannhard, who came in at 20:28:37.
No race at the distance in the United States had more finishers this year than the 391 who completed Leadville’s 4,750 metres of climbing. A field that size takes a long time to come home, and the median finisher needed 28:03:51 to get there.
Behind Hickory, the women’s podium was decided by minutes. Mannhard, who won here in 2023, held second by 4 minutes 56 seconds over Emma Wood, who finished in 20:33:33.
More women finished this edition than any before it: 96, or 24.6% of the field. Away from the podium, the women and the men ran much the same race. The median woman finished in 28:26:52 and the median man in 27:52:40, both of them well into the second day on the course and both within reach of the limit that shaped the end of the race.
Ages in the field centred on 38, and the chart below sets them against finishing time.
The time limit was 30:00:00, and the finish was at its busiest close to it: 26.3% of all finishers came home inside the final hour, after more than a day of running. The last of them came in at 30:42:22, outside the limit, which was published but not enforced to the second.
