Paul Peacock won the men’s race in 22:20:37, with Andrew Hyde second in 23:23:47. Esmee Price-Coates won the women’s race in 23:36:07, finishing 6 hours 14 minutes 19 seconds clear of Brenda Thompson, who was second in 29:50:26. The gap between the two winners was 5.6%: Price-Coates spent the night on the moors within reach of the front of the men’s race, while the rest of the women’s field was still hours behind her.
Behind her, the race for the remaining places was close. Thompson finished 1 hour 8 minutes ahead of Kimberley Reeve, who took third in 30:58:26. That made the winning margin 5.5 times the gap between second and third, which put Price-Coates in a race of her own and left the other two women on the podium racing each other.
Fifteen of the 51 finishers were women, a larger share than at the previous edition.
For most of the women who followed Price-Coates, the race was against the clock rather than against each other. A quarter of them finished after 35:18:00, with the limit at 36:00:00. Among the men, that late group came in from 33:09:26, so the back of the women’s field was pressed closer to the cutoff than the back of the men’s. The middle of the field shows the same pattern: the median woman finished in 33:02:06 and the median man in 30:55:56.
The chart below sets each finisher’s time against their age.
The last man finished in 35:55:41. The last finisher of all came in at 35:58:26, inside the 36:00:00 limit, after almost the full length of time the race allows.
