Hugh Tibbs won the men’s race in 19:10:09, two places better than his third at the last edition, and his third win after two other victories in 2025. Simon Withers was second in 19:14:44, which also improved on his own third place here last time. Anne-Sofie Pollestad won the women’s race in 22:28:24, with Charlotte Fisher second in 23:49:08.
The race had its largest field in eight editions, with 261 finishers. Of 24 races of its distance held in the United Kingdom this year, only one brought more runners home. They came from 22 countries, which makes this a large field and a broad one.
The women’s share moved the other way. There were 22 women among the finishers, 8.4% of the field, a share 0.7 points lower than at the last edition.
The two divisions were far apart at the front and level through the middle. The men’s race was decided in the nineteenth hour and the women’s in the twenty-third. By the middle of the field that difference had gone: the median woman finished in 31:46:32 and the median man in 31:43:48. Half of each division was still out on the course more than twelve hours after Tibbs had stopped, and most of the 261 finishers spent that time running among one another rather than in separate races.
The chart below sets each finisher’s time against their age.
The field was still arriving after the 36:00:00 limit. The last finisher came in at 37:21:42, because the cutoff was published but not enforced to the second, which is ordinary at this kind of race. The last woman home finished in 36:27:29, also after the limit.
